If snow, ice, or other weather conditions necessitate the cancellation of a UUS event, the information will be sent out by the uus-announce email list and the website. The church answering machine message will also announce the cancellation at (703)406-3068. Decisions about Sunday morning service are made by 8:00 am. Weekday events will be cancelled with at least two hours notice.

Thanks to everyone, our annual Auction held in November was a big success. We had an awesome dinner (coordinated by Maureen Burns) with many varieties of chili and side dishes; we had a fabulous auctioneer - Susan Miller – who kept things rolling with jokes and masterful auctioneering (is that really a word??!!); and the roasts and toasts arranged by Michelle James were masterful and entertaining.
And what you’ve all been waiting for … right now, the Auction has earned UUS a whopping $10,790!! Our goal was $8,000 so the Finance Committee is very happy right now!! But, while the amount is an important fact, it represents a strong vote of confidence for UUS. As the phrase goes, we put our money where our mouth is and we did it mightily! Everyone deserves a hearty thank you!
I wouldn’t be a worthy fundraiser if I didn’t mention that there are openings in some of the social events. Please let me know if you would like to sign up for any of the following activities.

Again, I thank everyone who donated, bid, bought, cooked, set up, cleaned up, arranged tables, rearranged the room, provided child care, and pitched in with all sorts of assistance at the last minute. Congratulations to everyone!
