Children's RE Unitarian Universalists view religious development as a journey every individual makes. This church is an affirming and challenging environment, which supports its members in their personal lifelong odysseys. Our Lifespan Faith Development program begins by providing nurturing, loving care in our nursery. The Children’s Program explores various topics, including world religions and the application of Unitarian Universalist principles to everyday life. Members of our Youth Group create their own program. We also offer a wide variety of educational and spiritually enriching opportunities for adults.

UUS LIFESPAN FAITH DEVELOPMENT VISION STATEMENT

At UUS, we emphasize the value of learning and experience throughout a person's life. We envision a congregation where members and friends of all ages are empowered by their understanding of the UU principles, history, and theology; world religions and cultures; and an understanding of the Hebrew and Christian scriptures. We imagine a church where all develop a sense of responsibility to family, community, and society at large; the ability to make ethical decisions; pride in our UU faith; and respect for other religions and cultures. We believe that lifespan faith development should be affirming, informative and fun for all ages.

UUS LIFESPAN FAITH DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Infants and Toddlers will have a loving and safe environment to provide a secure base for their later religious education.

Preschoolers will develop a sense of self, a feeling of belonging, and be introduced to Unitarian Universalists rituals and ideas.

Elementary school age children will learn about Unitarian Universalism, develop the ability to work together, and explore how they fit into the community as a whole.

Youth will gain knowledge of who they are and how they fit in, be provided opportunities to branch into the larger world, be given opportunities to test identity, and explore questions in depth.

Young Adults will develop their own theology, compile information, and make connections.

Adults will reflect on experiences and develop deeper meanings.

Elders will share wisdom and living history, reflect back learning, and grow through the loss and grieving process.

All ages at UUS, will share learning with others in similar and different life stages. Ideas, opinions, and contributions will be welcomed and encouraged to be shared.
