At UUS, virtually every service involves music. We may sing selections from the UUS hymnbook, Singing the Living Tradition, or use sheet music from other sources. Some services include a few songs before and after the sermon accompanied by the piano. Others are structured entirely around music and include performances from our choir or contemporary music groups.
The photo above is from a service from Summer 2007 where our choir joined with vocalists from other congregations is Northern Virgina to perform Brahms Requiem.
Our choir rehearses every Thursday from 7:30-9:00 P.M. and sings at church at least once every month. We are currently searching for a new music director. Our accompanist and music committee chair is Mary Matheny. New voices are always welcome.
