We need your help! UUCS directly supports Backpack Coalition’s goal to ensure 100 percent of the families that need support receive food for the weekends and extended breaks. Each week of the school year:

  • A UUCS volunteer shops for weekend meal supplies for 20 students
  • Our RE kids pack up 20 bags full of meal supplies
  • Another UUCS volunteer delivers those 20 bags to Sully Elementary to be given to kids in need

How can you help?  The next time you are shopping for your own groceries, please consider picking up a few extra items to support our food drive. For the food drive, we need everything in quantities of 10 (or 20) if possible. We could use the following:

  • Oatmeal packets (any flavor)
  • Cereal bars
  • Beef-a-roni/ravioli cans
  • Ramen noodle packs or cups
  • Single Serve Mac & Cheese
  • Pretzels
  • Granola bars
  • Cracker packets
  • Soup
  • Cans of corn
  • Stuffing mix
  • Any other shelf-stable holiday food (cranberry sauce, etc)

Sets of 10 or 20 items are best (for example, a box of 20 individually wrapped granola bars), but no food donation will be turned down. Favorite items are oatmeal packets, ramen noodle cups, granola bars, and any holiday-related food like stuffing or cranberry sauce. Just look for the bins labeled “Backpack Coalition Food Drive” in the reception area. Thank you for your support of this important program!
