1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Be part of a painting project to create 10 or more 16 x 20” painted acrylic canvases for the Poetry Slam and to exhibit at the church. We will be inspired by the art and style of Jacob Lawrence, an African American artist who painted the sixty panel Great Migration series in the 1940s. We can base each painting on a different social issue (i.e. Race, LGBTQ, global warming, immigration, etc) It could also be in the form of a statement of an event (i.e. Students staging a protest against gun violence).

Canvas and acrylic paint will be provided but sketches and ideas are encouraged.
