“What If We Are Pharaoh?”
Led by Rev. Aileen Fitzke
When we hear Ancient Stories we always place ourselves in the character of the protagonists. In the case of Passover and the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, we often imagine ourselves in the role of those fleeing Egypt under the guidance of Moses. But what if we saw ourselves as Pharaoh? Often our privilege enables us not to see what we do not want to see.
When we ask ourselves – “When do we use our privilege to uphold or at least remain indifferent to unjust systems because in some way we are complicit or benefit from those systems?” – we disrupt this pattern and again find ourselves not only on the path to our own liberation but to the liberation of all.
