Come to UUCS from 12:30 to 4:00, Sunday, March 12, to learn basic and effective tools that individuals can use to participate in community activism. No prior experience needed, no time commitments requested, no particular political slant required. This will be all about getting your words out, not about what they ought to be.

Press Releases – how and when to write and use them
Public Input – speaking directly to government on the record
Shows of Force – tee-shirts, stickers, and vigils for those who don’t like public speaking
LTEs – writing Letters to the Editors, painlessly: quantity vs. quality (why quantity wins)
Calls/e-mail – making direct contact with an elected official: why phone calls work
FOIA – using the Freedom of Information Act to see what’s really on the record.
